About me & my background
I'm an only child and an Army brat, so I had a fairly unique childhood. Being an only child who moved around a lot, made me very independent but also skilled in making friends.
While my dad was in the Army, we lived in Japan. It was such an amazing experience to live not only in another country but a completely different continent at such a young age. It helped me be very open to other cultures and eager to explore the world.
School was always easy for me, and I pretty much breezed through high school (well, as much as anyone can breeze through high school; those are times I don't want to repeat) and college.
Soon after college, I made my long-time dream of exploring Europe for a month come true. That trip's main "downfall" was that I became thoroughly and completely bitten by the travel bug.
There have been several more trips to Europe (Nice, France; London; and Paris) and a variety of trips throughout the United States (NYC, San Francisco, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Dallas, Houston) or to beautiful beaches outside of the US (Mexico, Bahamas, Dominican Republic).
Both my experience and background have given me an interesting mashup of skills and adaptability. I'd describe myself as an outgoing introvert. I'm great working by myself without any supervision or outside motivation but I'm also great working with people. Even though I am very comfortable with my own company, I'm the type to make friends with people wherever I go.
I feel my ability to make friends easily is due in part to my sense of humor (my favorite thing in the world is to laugh so hard I cry), kindness, and compassion. I'm pretty empathetic (I once cried while pulled over for a funeral procession because I felt so bad for the people who had a loved one just pass away) and feel I get people and their intents/motivations pretty well. I'd probably be a good therapist.
